Privacy policy

Last updated: October 2026

TabCabin is an open-source browser extension and an optional sync server. This policy explains what happens with your data. In short: it stays with you, and it only travels to sync your own computers when you sign in.

What the extension stores

The things you save — page titles and addresses, notes, to-dos, images, reminders — and your settings are stored in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB). They never leave your browser unless you sign in to sync them.

What we collect

Nothing. TabCabin has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no crash reporting.

Network requests

To show what you saved, the extension loads website icons and images from the websites they belong to. Website icons are taken from the browser's own icon cache when possible. No other requests are made, except to the sync server once you sign in.

Permissions

Optional sync

When you sign in, your boards are sent to the sync server this copy of TabCabin was built with, so your other computers can download them. The server stores your username (or, with Google sign-in, your e-mail address and Google account id), a scrypt hash of your password if you use one, hashed session tokens and the data you sync — nothing else, and it is never used for anything but syncing. Anyone can also run the server themselves and build the extension for it. You can sign out at any time; your data stays in the browser.

Deleting your data

Children

TabCabin is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page.
